CREATIVE STATEMENT
My interest in children’s books began in college, when a professor brought in a picture book. As an avid reader with a love of writing, this was the perfect field where I could combine writing and art. As an illustrator who specializes in whimsical, funny and heartfelt illustrations, I nuture this focus by observing the small magics in family and nature. To me, the most important part of illustration is to always try to improve my skills and play with different forms of media from procreate to traditional forms, including acrylic paint, gouache, clay and paper maché.

What was your favorite storybook as a child?
My favorite book as a child was Witches by Roald Dahl with illustrations by Quentin Blake.
Which authors do you admire most?
My favorite author/illustrators are Felicita Sala, Emily Hughes and Flavia S. Drago, to name just a few.

The characteristic that really brings a children’s book to life is the heart or emotion in the story and illustrations.
