CREATIVE STATEMENT

Over time, my passion for drawing and realism has transformed into a genuine love for portraiture. While portraits may appear straightforward, I find there's a lot to discover within them. They go beyond mere representation, expressing a depth of emotion and intrigue. What really fascinates me about portrait illustration is its unique ability to capture personality and likeness in a way distinct from photography. Additionally, it provides the freedom to infuse extra layers of meaning and creativity through additional elements or backgrounds.

Q&A

Which of your portraits is a personal favorite?
My personal favorite is my animal doppelganger portrait of Nick Offerman as a cat—it’s just so him.

What is the most important feature to capture?
The most important feature to capture in a portrait is the relative proportions of the eyes, nose, and mouth. If these are not exact it can throw off the portrait, unless, of course, you are purposefully exaggerating proportions for a caricature!

What would your dream project be?
A dream project for me would be illustrated portraits for a collective biographical book and the subjects could be anyone: famous women painters,  pioneers of scientific discoveries, music or film icons etc.
