CREATIVE STATEMENT
I began illustrating nature as soon as I could pick up a paintbrush, spending my childhood in beautiful Somerset surrounded by nature, I became obsessed with painting everything that grew wild around me. I later went on to complete a first class BAhons in Fashion Design at LCF, UAL and then work for 16 years designing in-house for many well known international fashion brands. I founded Charlotte Hogg Studio in 2018 specialising in illustration, decorative-art and surface pattern design, creating floral patterns for textiles, greeting cards, homeware and packaging. I work both by hand and digitally but I always strive for as much hand painted traditional techniques in my work as possible. I am inspired by gardens, historical houses and the decorative patterns within them, folkloric design and my huge collection of old botanical reference books. My studio is based in Somerset where I live on a nature filled old farm with my family.

Q&A
What industry do you most enjoy creating patterns for?
I am in my element when painting patterns for all industries but especially fashion and textiles, gift and homeware!
Where do you find inspiration?
Folk art, historical pattern and decorative interior references from around the world, historical ceramicware, antique botanical reference books, vintage wallpapers and fabrics.
What would be your dream pattern job?
All pattern design is a dream job for me! I have been thrilled to work with world some world leading brands in my 20 years in design and I look forward to working on new projects and exciting brands in the future!
