CREATIVE STATEMENT


With over 25 years of experience in graphic design and illustration, I bring a wealth of cultural awareness and creativity to every project. My career began in the film industry as a graphic designer, where I worked for 16 years—within tight deadlines—creating impactful visuals that complement and elevate the story being told. I stay closely attuned to the world around me, thinking about how I can respond to it through imagery that feels accessible and relatable to a broad audience. What I love most about editorial illustration is its ability to evoke emotions by telling a compelling visual story—I believe it's important to not only support the story, but also enhance the narrative with powerful compositions. For me, the two most important qualities of a successful editorial illustration are memorability and the ability to make an immediate impact through bold, striking visuals. I draw every day and stay informed by closely observing the imagery major publications use to accompany current news stories.

What topic do you most enjoy illustrating about? 
I enjoy drawing people with complex inner lives interacting with the world around them. I love infusing humor into my work, adding an additional layer of meaning, and I often feel compelled to react to the world around me through my art, drawing inspiration from current events.
 
What magazine cover do you want your illustration to be on?
My dream is to design a cover for The New Yorker.
