CREATIVE STATEMENT
Through a mix of traditional and digital tools, dramatic lighting and a contrasting palette, I make concepts, characters and places come to life. I'm interested in visual metaphors and how meaning forms both in the making of an image and in the mind of the viewer. That mismatch is where the image does its work. Every piece starts with nailing an idea, but what follows is a phase where control and accident push against each other, until something holds and hopefully also suggests meaning beyond written words.

Which publication does a great job at using illustrations?
I would say Noema Magazine is one I'm always impressed by the way they seem to allow for a lot of artistic freedom in interpreting at times really complex issues is impressive.
What topic do you most enjoy illustrating about?
Science and technology is almost always fun and interesting, but social and societal issues can also pose an interesting challenge.
What magazine cover do you want your illustration to be on?
I'm not sure—of course it would be cool to have something on the cover of Der Spiegel or something equally prestigious, but on the other hand I would be equally stoked to do a cover for something more low-brow, like Heavy Metal Magazine!
