CREATIVE STATEMENT
I've been interested in editorial art beginning at a very early age. Growing up in NYC, The NY Times was read every day. From the wonderful caricatures by Hirschfeld every Sunday on the front page of the Entertainment Section to travel and fashion sections I was impressed by how much more they conveyed than the photography that surrounded them. Time Magazine covers, The New Yorker, New York Magazine—I was always looking through the magazines to look at the illustrations in so many different and exciting styles. I would doodle on every piece of paper in the house. I went to the HS of Art & Design in NYC and followed with Parsons School of Design, studying illustration and graphic design. I would sketch in museums, on the subway, on the street and whenever I travelled. I believe I am a "thinking" illustrator- gathering research and developing strong concepts to each of my illustrations.
