CREATIVE STATEMENT
Surface pattern design was the career I never knew I needed. I learned about the industry in 2018 and have never looked back. I began to actively seek clients in 2020 after building a portfolio and immersing myself in the pattern design community. Because I work in patterns nearly exclusively and completely digitally, I am always striving to improve and streamline my process by learning about and trying new techniques. What I love best about creating patterns is that it is a puzzle and a delight; it satisfies something deep in me.

Q&A
What industry do you most enjoy creating patterns for?
I most enjoy creating patterns for baby and children’s clothing. I am continually creating the patterns I wish had been available when my children were young.
Where do you find inspiration?
Gardens, bookstores and quirky museums are some of my favorite inspiring haunts. I also find folk art and textiles, specifically those from India and Guatemala to be rich sources of ideas in shapes, colors and themes. I am also a huge fan of the inspirations that occur in the twilight time right before I fall asleep.
What would be your dream pattern job?
My dream would be to create patterns for baby/children’s clothing and soft home goods like bedding. Also creating patterns for pajamas for adults and kids is high on my list of goals. My list of dream companies is lengthy! I’d love to collaborate with Wildkin, Zutano, Little Sleepies, PJ Salvage and The Company Store.
